Marcus Coloma’s Exit Was Simpler Than Fans Believed

Marcus Coloma’s departure as Nikolas Cassadine became one of the most talked-about casting changes in recent General Hospital history.

After debuting on October 31, 2019, Coloma completed the three-year contract he had signed with the ABC soap, with his final episode airing on January 27, 2023. At the time, rumors spread quickly that the actor refused to film his final scenes because he was unhappy his contract had not been renewed.

His representative firmly denied those claims.

Anthony Geary spent decades becoming one of soap opera’s biggest legends, earning 17 Daytime Emmy nominations and eight victories while creating unforgettable television moments, including Luke and Laura’s iconic 1981 wedding.

Geary first left in 1984 before returning seven years later. Upon coming back, he admitted he had grown tired of playing Luke, leading writers to introduce Luke’s cousin, Bill Eckert. Fans never embraced the new character, and by 1993 Bill was killed off, allowing Geary to resume his signature role.

The actress, who portrayed Bobbie Spencer since 1977, passed away on May 9, 2023, following a short battle with cancer. She was 70 years old.

Her final appearance aired on April 27, 2023, during Michael and Willow’s wedding episode. At the time, neither viewers nor many cast members realized they were watching Bobbie Spencer for the last time.

Executive producer Frank Valentini described Zeman as “a bright light and a true professional,” while fans across the soap community mourned the loss of one of General Hospital’s most beloved stars.

Unlike other departures driven by contracts or career choices, Jackie Zeman’s exit remains one of the most heartbreaking chapters in the show’s history.

Lexi Ainsworth’s Recasting Left Fans Searching for Answers

Another surprising departure came when Lexi Ainsworth suddenly disappeared from the role of Kristina Corinthos.
