Paige Herschell’s emotional exit has already left fans frustrated, but now the actress has broken her silence — and the final words of her goodbye may completely change the way viewers should look at Jacinda’s departure.

Following her final appearance on the August 11 episode, Herschell thanked General Hospital for giving her the opportunity to play Jacinda and expressed how deeply moved she was by the messages she received from viewers. But instead of closing the door on the character, she ended with a playful line that immediately caught fans’ attention: “If you need me… I’ll be in the character closet.”

That hardly sounds like an actress determined never to return.

Jacinda’s Exit Wasn’t Paige Herschell’s Decision

Perhaps the most important detail surrounding the departure is what apparently didn’t happen behind the scenes.

Soap Opera Digest confirmed that Herschell’s exit was storyline-dictated, meaning Jacinda was written off because of the direction GH chose for the story. There has been no credible indication that Herschell quit the soap or that her departure resulted from a backstage dispute.

Jacinda’s downfall came after her war with Willow escalated dramatically. After Willow took legal action designed to keep Jacinda away from Wiley and Amelia, Jacinda retaliated by slipping molly into Willow’s coffee. The plan became far more dangerous when Willow consumed the drugged drink while she had the children with her.

For Michael Corinthos, that crossed a line he couldn’t ignore.

Michael feared Jacinda’s actions could hand Willow exactly the ammunition she needed in their custody battle. He ultimately told Jacinda their relationship was over, arranged money so she could begin again somewhere else, and sent her away from Port Charles. Their farewell was painful precisely because the relationship had stopped feeling like the fake arrangement it once was.

Jacinda Was Never Supposed to Last This Long

That makes Herschell’s departure even more remarkable.

When Jacinda first appeared in April 2025, the role was supposed to be relatively brief. She entered the story as the paid escort Nina and Portia used in their scheme against Drew before seemingly disappearing to Australia. Herschell herself believed that might be the end.

But she wanted more.

Herschell later revealed that she jokingly suggested to executive producer Frank Valentini that maybe Jacinda never actually boarded the plane. GH eventually brought her back, and what began as a temporary troublemaker evolved into a far more complicated character.

Her return also put her directly into Michael’s orbit. Jacinda initially agreed to pose as his romantic partner while providing him an alibi connected to Drew’s shooting, but the fake romance gradually developed into something genuine. Herschell spoke warmly about working opposite Rory Gibson, praising how grounded he was as a scene partner and how naturally they were able to connect in their scenes.

That progression is exactly why this goodbye feels unfinished.

Was GH Clearing the Way for Michael and Willow?

There may also be a bigger storyline reason Jacinda had to disappear.

With Michael suddenly single again and Willow’s relationship with Drew collapsing, GH has once again placed Michael and Willow in each other’s emotional orbit. Soap Opera Digest has already raised the possibility of a “Millow” reunion, although nothing has been officially confirmed.

If that is where the writers are heading, Jacinda’s exit makes narrative sense — but it may still disappoint viewers who felt Michael and Jacinda were only beginning to reach their potential.

Jacinda brought something unpredictable to Michael’s world. She could be reckless, manipulative and dangerously impulsive, yet Herschell gradually exposed a softer side underneath that survival instinct. Michael appeared to be one of the few people capable of bringing that vulnerability to the surface.

And then, almost as quickly as their relationship became real, it was over.

But Jacinda’s Story May Not Truly Be Finished

The key difference between Jacinda’s departure and many soap exits is simple: GH left her alive, free and completely capable of returning.

Jacinda has already disappeared from Port Charles once and found her way back. This time, even the actress playing her seems unwilling to treat the goodbye as permanent. Michael Fairman TV also noted the possibility that a character like Jacinda could eventually return with unfinished business — whether involving Michael, revenge, money or an entirely new complication.

Herschell’s final message therefore feels less like a farewell and more like a wink to viewers.

Jacinda may be out of Port Charles today, but Paige Herschell clearly hasn’t locked the character away forever.
