General Hospital Star Maurice Benard Celebrates Daughter Cassidy’s Magical Disneyland Engagement

Tokyo, JapanMaurice Benard, best known to daytime fans as the iconic mob boss Sonny Corinthos on General Hospital, recently shared a heartwarming moment that captured the hearts of viewers and castmates alike. In a video posted to Instagram, Benard revealed that his daughter Cassidy had just gotten engaged at Tokyo Disneyland, in a moment nothing short of pure magic.

Set in front of Rapunzel’s Tower from Disney’s Tangled, the proposal unfolded beneath the romantic tune “I See the Light,” performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. As Cassidy and her partner Anthony Camarada posed for what appeared to be a simple photograph, Camarada dropped to one knee, stunning Cassidy with a heartfelt proposal. A nearby bystander captured the scene, pretending to snap a photo but secretly filming the touching moment.

Benard proudly captioned the video: My daughter Cassidy got proposed to in Japan Disneyland by Anthony Camarada. People talk about soulmates. These two are two peas in a pod. I could never see either of them with anyone else. I love them both tremendously.”

Adding a cultural layer to the already emotional moment, several Japanese women approached the newly engaged couple after the proposal and gifted them traditional envelopes containing small paper notes—likely a variation of noshi or shugi-bukuro, which symbolize purity and good fortune for the couple.

The video quickly drew reactions from Benard’s General Hospital co-stars. Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) wrote, This is the most beautiful thing. Watched it three times and I’m crying. Congratulations to you all.” Benard responded with heartfelt gratitude: You’re the best, Finola.”

Lisa LoCicero (Olivia Falconeri) also chimed in with praise, calling the engagement, better than you described.” Meanwhile, fans flooded the comments with congratulations, including @atlisa_m_062 who shared in Benard’s joy: This gave me goosebumps. Congratulations to Cassidy and Anthony!”

Benard, who is also the host of the popular YouTube series State of Mind, known for its focus on mental health, has built a deep connection with fans by sharing personal moments like these. From dramatic on-screen storylines to real-life joy, Maurice Benard continues to remind audiences that sometimes the most touching stories happen offscreen.
