It’s been a whirlwind return to Young & Restless for Michael Damian, whose character Danny was plunged back into an old love triangle so frustrating that he started packing his bags again!
On the heels of a quick visit to Genoa City during the Bicentennial Gala, Danny decided to return to his former stomping grounds for a longer stay. In a happy coincidence for the rock star, the object of his affections just happened to be exiting a long-term marriage upon his arrival.
Although Christine was single, she wasn’t quite ready to mingle, which left the door open just enough for her nemesis and Danny’s ex-wife, Phyllis, to wedge her stiletto into it and cause complete chaos.
As Phyllis is wont to do, she schemed and manipulated just enough to aggravate Christine whilst leaving Danny in a haze of confusion thanks to her considerable feminine wiles.
Danny being the nice guy that he is, encouraged Phyllis in her quest to be a better person, which she took as encouragement of her interest in him. This created a bizarre love triangle given that Danny was already romancing Christine.
After a series of dust-ups between the women that left Danny disgruntled and playing the victim, it began to look like neither woman would get to sample his secret sauce ever again. Danny moved up the dates of his next tour and took to hiding out in Daniel’s apartment in hopes of avoiding Red and the Bug until it was time to go.
Anyone who has met Phyllis will tell you that a closed door and a shouted, “No!” aren’t nearly enough to discourage her or keep her at bay. She managed to finagle her way into her son’s apartment and eventually convinced Danny to share one last “goodbye” dinner together.
Although she fantasized about what would go down between them on the big night, it was never to be, as Christine made one last appeal to the rock star in the interim. Danny turned up for his evening with Phyllis with Cricket in tow and let the redhead know in no uncertain terms (finally!) that it wasn’t happening between them.
With Danny having established a romantic relationship with Cricket again, and inviting her to join him on the impending concert tour, it certainly appeared as though Damian’s return gig on Young & Restless was coming to its natural end.
But when a worried fan reached out on social media to ask the star directly, she received an emphatic “no!” and a promise that it simply wasn’t the case.
It looks like Young & Restless fans can relax because Damian and his beloved rock star character Danny are sticking around. Does this mean that Danny and Cricket will wed? Will Phyllis take her revenge? We’ll have to tune in to find out!
