What Happened To Randy Edwards After Swamp People?

Swamp People star Randy Edwards was involved in an accident after his time on the show. When History Channel’s Swamp People premiered in August 2010, the show’s unique premise of following alligator hunters living in the swamps of the Atchafalaya river made it a popular reality TV show. Randy was one of the hunters who debuted during the first season. Randy appeared on the show alongside his father and mother, Junior and Theresa Edwards, and his older brother, William “Willie” Edwards.

After making his debut in Swamp People season 1, Randy became one of the stars of the show as he successfully caught hundreds of alligators using his intuition and experience. Randy’s humor also made him a fan favorite, and he would go on to appear on the show for six consecutive seasons. However, in 2014, Randy chose to exit the show and retire from the spotlight. Still, with Swamp People season 15 currently airing, the show seems to have fallen out of favor with fans and is sometimes considered one of the worst History Channel reality TV shows.

Swamp People Star Randy Edwards Passed Away

On September 15, 2018, Swamp People fans received the devastating news that Randy had passed away. According to reports, Randy was involved in an auto crash in Iberville Parish, Louisiana, in the early hours of the same day. The Swamp People veteran was driving his 2002 Chevrolet Silverado when he tried and failed to navigate a left turn, which caused his vehicle to veer off the road and collide with a utility pole around 3. a.m. (via Fresherslive).

The impact of the crash was enough to force Randy from the vehicle. Sadly, upon arrival at the scene, the first responders pronounced the Swamp People star dead. Meanwhile, a toxicology report conducted after the accident revealed a possibility that Randy might have been slightly intoxicated, which may have contributed to his misjudgment of the left turn that led to the crash.

Swamp People Fans Paid Tribute To Randy Edwards

After Randy’s accident, Ronnie, a family friend of his father, Junior, took to the family’s Facebook page to announce the sad news to the fans. In the post, Ronnie wrote, “It is in deep sadness that I make this post. Junior and Theresa’s son, Willie’s brother, Randy, passed away in a vehicle accident early this morning. Randy was 35.” Ronnie then asked fans to keep the family in their prayers. Fans immediately took to the comment section to pay tributes to Randy and send their condolences to the family.

A fan, Bryan Miller, lauded Randy for his time on the show, writing, “You will always be with us, Randy. Thank you for your patience and good humor. We will miss you. R.I.P.” Randy’s obituary revealed that the Swamp People star was survived by his wife Terri and three children, his only other family besides those that appeared on the show. Sadly, fans will never see him return to the screens after Randy’s heroics in Swamp People.
