What happened to Glenn on Swamp People?
Swamp People season 15 sees the show’s alligator hunters facing some of their most difficult challenges yet. As Troy Landry, Ashley ‘Deadeye’ Jones, and the rest of the cast members return for this year’s show, fans are scratching their heads over what happened to Glenn Guist. He was a star of Swamp People in its early days alongside his late brother, Mitchell Guist.
The New Year brings a new Swamp People season and fans are super excited to see Jacob Landry, Willie Edwards, Pickle Wheat, and co back on their screens. Ashley is also back on the series alongside Ronnie Adams. Viewers are convinced Ashley is debuting a whole new look this year, while others are curious about History Channel star Glenn’s whereabouts as he’s no longer on the show.
What happened to Glenn on Swamp People?
Glenn Guist, and his late brother, Mitchell Guist, joined the Swamp People cast in season 2.
The hit reality TV show arrived on the History Channel in 2011 and Glenn went on to star in seasons 2 to 9 until 2018.
When the show’s 2019 season came around, fans noticed Glenn was no longer appearing in the cast. His bio no longer appears on History’s Swamp People cast list.

Despite stepping away from the spotlight, an update from a Glenn and Mitchell Guist fan page provides some insight into how the former TV star is doing nowadays.
According to the November 2023 post, Glenn has “quit smoking and drinking,” and “still gets around hunting and fishing just fine.”
The update adds he wasn’t “changed by being on TV” and is still the “same good-natured” guy he always was.
Swamp People star hugely ‘missed’
One thing Swamp People is going to deliver to its fans is authenticity. And, as a “master hunter,” Glenn was always showing what life is really like for people living on the bayou.
He captured many fans’ hearts during his seasons on the show, with one tweeting on X (Twitter) they’d “fallen in love” with him.
Glenn was born and raised on the bayou. He hails from Gonzales, Louisiana, and learned to live off the land as a child.
Following his departure from the show, lots of newcomers have joined Swamp People. Lots of viewers are loving the new season. But, some are seriously “missing” Glenn.
One took to the Facebook fan page, writing: “Miss him! Tell him we haven’t forgot him!”
Others say that the show simply “isn’t the same without him.”
Glenn lost his brother in 2012
During his time on Swamp People, Glenn mourned the loss of his younger brother, Mitchell.
Glenn and his brother lived together their whole lives until Mitchell’s untimely death 12 years ago.
The Swamp People star’s death came as a shock to fans who adored seeing the siblings on screen together.
Mitchell sadly passed away at the age of 47 on May 14, 2012, writes History.
Glenn’s brother died from “natural causes.” Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack told CNN: “…he was working to build a houseboat when he appeared to have a seizure and fell backwards in his boat…”
