General Hospital fans still have no answers
A year and a half have gone by and no one has seen Leslie Charleson who portrays Monica Quartermaine on General Hospital since February 2022. The actress was on an episode of State of Mind with Maurice Benard in March and said nothing about her status on the soap. Her 45th anniversary was last year on August 16th and fans were anticipating a big celebration. Unfortunately, nothing was done to commemorate the occasion and rumors the actress would announce her retirement on her anniversary date were unfounded.
There has been no officialo news from General Hospital execs that Charleson was ending her time on the ABC soap and there were no episodes where Monica was honored by flashbacks of her 4 decades on the series. Fans said it was as if she did not exist and as the cast member who has been around the longest, she deserved better.
GH fans are concerned about Leslie Charleson
GH viewers are discussing Charleson again because a few weeks back Monica spoke to Olivia Quartermaine ( Lisa Locicero) on the phone. Some fans say the voice sounded like Monica but others say it really did not sound like Charleson. Fans are questioning why no one, not the actress or ABC executives has given any details regarding the iconic soap vet who has been on General Hospital since 1977.
You would think the soap would have shown their love on the occasion of Charleson’s 45 anniversary and at least give her and her character a shoutout but now the 46th year has come and gone without a word being said. Whatever is going on with Leslie Charleson the actress and the General Hospital exects seem to be on the same page where the silence is concerned. Some fans say the ABC soap should at least give Charleson’s devoted followers the courtesy of knowing what is going on but so far this has not been done.
Will fans ever find out the truth?
Fans are asking if Charleson is ill and unable to perform as Monica. Several times in the past the character was recast but since it’s been 18 months it looks like someone else would have to take over the role. None of the GH cast members has mentioned Monica either and now that Jane Elliot has returned as Tracy Quartermaine it makes Monica’s absence more noticeable. Some GH fans are wondering if Tracy was brought back and given a front-burner storyline so that the focus would not be on her missing sister-in-law.
Tracy and Dr. Quartermaine are entertaining when they sparred with one another and Monica would mention that Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon) gave her the Q mansion. These days Tracy is spending her time talking to a secret partner about Deception and blackmailing her granddaughter Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton).
Someone needs to speak up
General Hospital has implied that Monica was away from Port Charles. fo9r seminar but that was last summer. Fans are saying online they were hoping they would have received some definite answer by now but again nothing. At this point, it appears that no answers will come. As beloved as Leslie Charleson is GH viewers are saying she should show her fans some love by letting them know she is OK.
The silence is deafening so come on FranK Valentini you and your team should address this matter. Better yet it would be nice if Leslie Charleson told her fans straight from her own mouth what her status is on General Hospital.
