The reason Bold & Beautiful was only renewed for 1 more year!
It’s a pretty darn good time to be a soap fan, if we do say so ourselves — especially a fan CBS soaps! The Young and the Restless just got a stunning four-year renewal and The Gates will be the first new daytime drama created in 25 years. On top of that, as our sister site TVLine explains, The Bold and the Beautiful was picked up for another year, guaranteeing it’ll run into 2025. That last bit of news, though, has also gotten fans a bit worried!
Why did the network give Young & Restless four years and its sister show a measly one?? On top of that, with the news that CBS would be adding a third soap to its daytime lineup, some fans have wondered if this discrepancy was a sign that Bold & Beautiful would soon be on its way out.
But there’s absolutely no indication of that happening, especially as the soap continues to be hugely popular across the globe. Fortunately, supervising producer Casey Kasprzyk helped explain why Bold & Beautiful didn’t get four additional years over on the latest episode of Bold Live.
The podcast’s host brought up Young & Restless‘ renewal and happily congratulated the sudser and everyone on it. “At the same time,” Kasprzy noted, “it was announced Bold & Beautiful has a one-year extension. So, I saw a lot of comments saying, ‘Hmm. Y&R got four years, B&B only got one.’ Well, the truth is, we are two different shows with two different contracts, two different deals.”
Basically, it comes down to the fact that the two different CBS sudsers are on separate renewal timelines.
Kaspzryk went on to explain, “It’s not my place to really comment on it other than to say that we’re on a three-year deal and so the third year was picked up. The way it works, next year will be when we negotiate for a brand new contract. So we are currently on a deal that gives us one more year. So we’re on through 2025. Thank you, CBS. We love being on CBS and we couldn’t be happier.”
In other words, the show’s still working through its renewal from back in 2022! There’s no guarantee, course, that next year Bold & Beautiful will get an identical pickup to its sister show, but right now, CBS seems more dedicated than ever to its daytime lineup.
As Kasprzyk put it, “We’ll have more news next year and hopefully, we’re here for a very, very long time.
