In Rememberance: Cast who died in Swamp People [Mitchell, Randy], but where is Willie now?
Over the past few years, the fan following of History Channel’s reality series “Swamp People,” which features the daily activities of alligator hunters, has soared to new heights. The engaging cast and the dramatic alligator hunting activities have undoubtedly contributed to its popularity. However, this fame has also been shadowed by tragic events, particularly the deaths of two prominent cast members.
Mitchell Guist, a familiar face in several episodes of “Swamp People,” passed away unexpectedly on May 14, 2012. While loading supplies onto a boat at Belle River, Guist lost his motor coordination and fell, leading to a seizure and a heart attack, culminating in his death at Morgan City Hospital. He lived with his brother, Glenn, in Gonzales, Louisiana. To honor him, the “Voodoo Bayou” episode of “Swamp People” was aired on May 17, 2012.
Another tragedy occurred with the death of Randy Edwards, a professional alligator hunter, in the early morning of September 15. Randy failed to navigate a curve and was killed in a traffic collision involving his 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. The news of Randy’s death deeply saddened the fan community.
Meanwhile, a mistaken rumor spread about the death of Willie Edwards, another cast member. However, it turns out that Willie is still alive and continues to pursue his passion for alligator hunting. This misunderstanding caused concern among fans, but they were eventually relieved to learn that Willie remains safe and healthy.
