The Rock truck, essential for transferring power from the engine to the wheels, faced a serious setback when two U-bolts sheared off, causing the drive shaft to fall out of alignment. This malfunction halted the truck’s operation and threatened to derail Ness’s mining efforts.
In a swift response, Buzz and the Camp’s cook jumped into action. Upon inspection, they discovered that incorrect bolts had been used in a previous repair. The team had to rethread the damaged holes to fit the correct factory bolts, allowing them to successfully reconnect the drive shaft and restore the truck to working order.
Rick Ness expressed his satisfaction with the repair, praising Buzz for his quick and effective work. “That was huge for us,” Ness said, highlighting the critical role the Rock truck plays in their operations.
With the truck back in service, Ness’s team processed an impressive 23 ounces of gold, valued at $46,000. This haul not only exceeded their previous best but also provided a much-needed boost for the season.
