It’s officially the end of an era in Port Charles.

Jeff Kober has wrapped his run on General Hospital, with his character Cyrus Renault meeting his final fate in the February 20 episode of the ABC daytime drama. Once a ruthless mob boss turned self-proclaimed man of God, Cyrus was ultimately killed by Josslyn Jacks, bringing his long and turbulent storyline to a close.

Jeff Kober first appeared on General Hospital in February 2020, playing Cyrus on and off over the years. His portrayal of the complex villain-turned-reformed figure quickly made Cyrus one of the most compelling and unsettling characters on the canvas.

Speaking with Soap Opera Digest about his exit, Kober reflected emotionally on his time with the show:

“I miss going to work. I miss the people. I miss the process. I got to tell you, I love acting on a soap. It’s so dangerous for an actor to let go and let the scene happen, and General Hospital gave me an opportunity to practice that letting go day after day after day. And I relish that, and I will miss that.”

Born in Billings, Montana in 1953, Kober moved to the Los Angeles area in his twenties, where he studied acting and began building what would become a long and impressive career in film and television. His work on General Hospital proved to be one of the standout chapters of that career.

In 2022, Jeff Kober was honored with the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, a testament to the power and depth he brought to Cyrus Renault.

As his storyline concludes, Kober leaves behind some unforgettable moments, including his final, emotionally charged scenes with Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth Webber). His performance during this final stretch reminded viewers why Cyrus remained such a gripping presence until the very end.

Cyrus Renault may be gone, but Jeff Kober’s impact on General Hospital won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
