Sad News! General Hospital & DAYS Star Robert Kelker-Kelly Dies at 62 — New Details Surrounding His Death Leave Fans Stunned

The daytime television world has been hit with heartbreaking news. Robert Kelker-Kelly, the actor remembered by millions of soap fans as Bo Brady on Days of Our Lives and the dangerous Stavros Cassadine on General Hospital, has died at the age of 62.

According to reports, Kelker-Kelly passed away on October 3, 2026, in Missouri. At this time, the cause of his death has not been publicly revealed.

For longtime viewers, his death marks the loss of an actor connected to some of daytime television’s most unforgettable storylines.

From Bo Brady to One of DAYS’ Biggest Love Triangles

Born on April 18, 1964, Robert Kelker-Kelly entered the soap world through Another World, where he originated the role of Sam Fowler and played the character from 1987 until 1990.

But his career took a dramatic turn in 1992 when Days of Our Lives selected him to take over the iconic role of Bo Brady, previously made famous by Peter Reckell.

Replacing such a beloved performer was never going to be easy, but Kelker-Kelly quickly became a major presence in Salem.

His version of Bo found himself at the center of a highly charged romantic triangle involving Hope Brady, played by Kristian Alfonso, and Billie Reed, played by Lisa Rinna.

The storyline became one of the defining DAYS plots of that era.

Kelker-Kelly’s work also earned industry recognition, including the Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in 1994.

He remained with the series until 1995, when Peter Reckell returned to the role.

His Unexpected Return to Another World

Kelker-Kelly wasn’t finished with daytime television.

In 1996, he made an unusual comeback to Another World — but not as Sam Fowler.

Instead, he returned as an entirely different character, Shane Roberts, also known as Bobby Reno.

He remained with the soap until 1998, adding another memorable chapter to a daytime career that repeatedly surprised viewers.

General Hospital Fans Remember Stavros Cassadine

For General Hospital viewers, however, Kelker-Kelly will forever be associated with one of Port Charles’ most dangerous families.

In 2001, he stepped into the role of Stavros Cassadine, bringing a menacing presence to the legendary Cassadine dynasty.

He returned to the series in 2002 and 2003, before making another surprise appearance during General Hospital’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2013.

Kelker-Kelly once again briefly returned in 2014.

His Stavros even appeared in a haunting sequence connected to longtime enemy Luke Spencer, played by Anthony Geary — another reminder of just how deeply the Cassadine villain became woven into GH history.

He Walked Away From Hollywood for a Completely Different Life

Perhaps one of the most surprising chapters of Kelker-Kelly’s story came after his acting career.

Rather than continuing to chase television roles, he eventually stepped away from acting and became a professional pilot.

It was a dramatic change from soap sets, romantic triangles and Cassadine conspiracies — and one that made his career path particularly unusual among longtime daytime stars.

His DAYS Past Returned to the Headlines

Kelker-Kelly’s time on Days of Our Lives had also returned to public attention before his death.

Lisa Rinna, who played Billie Reed opposite his Bo Brady, discussed their working relationship in her memoir and made serious allegations about difficulties she said she experienced while working with him.

Those comments brought renewed attention to a complicated chapter of DAYS history, decades after their famous storyline first aired.

A Complicated but Unforgettable Daytime Legacy

Robert Kelker-Kelly’s soap career may have taken him through several different identities, but two roles remain especially vivid for fans: Bo Brady and Stavros Cassadine.

One was a romantic hero caught between two women in Salem.

The other was a dark Cassadine villain who brought danger to Port Charles.

Few performers move between such radically different characters and still manage to leave a recognizable mark on both shows.

Now, following his death at just 62 years old, longtime General Hospital, Days of Our Lives and Another World viewers are looking back at a career filled with recasts, surprise returns, unforgettable villains and some of daytime television’s biggest storylines.

For soap fans who watched him through the years, Robert Kelker-Kelly will remain part of an era that helped define daytime drama.
