General Hospital Writer Exits Port Charles for Shocking Days of Our Lives Retur

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers hint that some changes are happening behind the scenes at the Peacock sudser.

According to Daytime Confidential, multiple sources have offered confirmation on General Hospital’s Ryan Quan heading back to his former soap home.

Paula Cwikly has opted to retire, so Ryan Quan will reportedly be taking over her co-head writer spot and working alongside Jeanne Marie Ford.

There’s no official news from Days on the shakeup, but it’s certainly looking like this insider buzz will turn out to be true.

Quan eventually settled into the role of story consultant and was widely regarded as a wealth of Days knowledge.

When it comes to the show’s history, this guy really knows his stuff!

Quan ultimately left to join General Hospital’s writing team and had his debut episode as a GH breakdown writer in 2025.

Now it looks like Quan is soap-hopping back over to Days, so he’s trading Port Charles for Salem and a big promotion.

It’ll be interesting to see how Jeanne Marie Ford and Ryan Quan do as a co-head writing team.

Many fans will be curious to see if they work well together, but viewers will have to wait a while before Quan’s material with Ford debuts.

Since DOOL films nearly a year in advance, it’ll take some time before whatever Quan co-writes with Ford actually makes it to the screen.

That said, Quan is a talented writer who brings a lot to the table, so we have no doubt that the wait will be worth it.

Writer shakeups like this can often breathe new life into a soap and give it a positive jolt, so this may be a good thing in the end!

How do you feel about Ryan Quan trading General Hospital for Days? Are you glad to hear that a writer change is happening?

Days of Our Lives spoilers say there’ll be plenty of drama playing out in the meantime, so stick with us for more details.
