Swamp People’s Troy Landry scores 350 tags

The Swamp People cast were given a challenge to see who could secure the most alligator tags. Troy Landry and his assistant Pickle made history and secured the 350 tags on the season 14 finale!

Ronnie Adams was seen telling Pickle: “Today, we’re knocking Troy Landry off his plateau,” with plans to win the season. Anthony Porkchop Williams said: “I want to win those tags, man.”

Troy aimed to get an early lead while Ronnie set his sights on dethroning the King, but Landry got the most tags, while cast members Jeromy Pruitt and David La Cart were in possession of the largest gator.

King of The Swamp’s biggest alligator

Troy’s giant alligator catch happened on season 8, which was 12ft. It was caught while he went on the swamp with Chase and Holden, when Troy’s nephew Holden worked as the deckhand for cousin Chase.

Known as King of the Swamp, he is one of the most well-known and fearless alligator hunters in the bayou. As the son of a fisherman and seafood distributor, Troy has gator hunting in his blood.

Alligator almost sunk Troy Landry’s boat

An alligator almost sunk Troy’s boat on the final day of alligator hunting season in season 8. It’s happened multiple times due to the huge weight of the gators – but Landry is never anything but pleased.

It happened on The Hunt Ends, with just one tag left that he “saved for the big one”. While on the water with Jacob, Troy never expected to get all the tags, but it would be the first time he hadn’t got them all.

Warning his co-star to “watch his hand,” Troy says the gator will “pop the line in a heartbeat,” before using his famous slogan, “Choot ’em.” The alligator was so heavy it also roped-burned the tree!

Swamp People star’s double whammy

Troy and Pickle caught a 12ft gator with a 7ft baby in its mouth during season 14. Fans can watch the ground-breaking moment on Swamp People season 14 episode 6, called Pirate Cursed Gators.

Landry was taken to the river hotspot by Pickle, who tried to catch the gator, but he kept trying to run away. Even the King of the Swamp was shocked over how big the animal was!

“I get pumped up when I see a big alligator even though I’ve caught hundreds. This is the kind of alligator that gets your bloody pumping. I want to bring this alligator in,” said Troy.

Huge gator catch saves the day

When Pickle and Ronnie struggled to fill their tags, Swamp People’s Troy Landry joined their boat to help. Ronnie had been using a pole with no ribbons on them, but tried to bring more bait with him.

Troy warned, “He’s going to take the boat,” before adding multiple times, “It’s a big one.” He helps Pickle fill another tag – but a big storm is coming and they need to get off the water.

Although Pickle and Ronnie were having a hard time filling their tags after Hurricane Ida, Troy is there to ensure they got another tag on season 13, during the Nothing But Bulls episode.
